Hi everyone, I’m new here and I’m hoping someone can help me by giving me some advice.
Symptoms I suffer from are constant EXTREMELY low energy (I’m essentially bedbound), sensitive to cold, find it very difficult to lose weight, constant weight gain, dry skin, constipation, depression and other mental problems.
In addition to possible hypothyroidism, I strongly believe I suffer from a severe form of adrenal fatigue or possibly even a more severe form of adrenal dysfunction.
My thyroid test results are below. The first set of results I had done suggested possible “euthyroid”. The second set of results (full thyroid panel) I had done a few weeks later showed all normal results (within reference ranges) except for Reverse T3 which was extremely high.
Serum TSH level: 0.83 mu/L (0.30-6.00 mu/L)
Serum free T4 level: 22.1 pmol/L (10.00-22.00 pmol/L)
Total T4: 110 (58-161 nmol/L)
TSH: 2.23 (0.40-4.00 microIU/mL)
Free T4: 16.8 (11.5-22.7 pmol/L)
Free T3: 4.7 (2.8-6.5 pmol/L)
FT4:FT3 Ratio: 3.6
Reverse T3: 0.94 (0.14-0.54 nmol/L)
TG: <32 (<= 40 IU/mL)
TPO: <14 (<= 34 IU/mL)
Given how high my Reverse T3 result is, and given I have hypothyroid symptoms, does this mean I am suffering from hypothyroidism? And in order to help me lose weight, could I take thyroid hormone replacement? Would this actually help me in losing weight? Could it be counterproductive or do more harm than good?
