Hello,.  I am new here.  I recently came back to a very low carb lifestyle after having been away from it for a couple of years.  I had done pretty well on it, but strayed, thinking it would be okay as long as I stayed away from gluten (I have celiac disease.). However, it didn’t turn out okay.  My weight went up 60 lbs, my energy dropped, and I generally didn’t feel so well.  So now, I’ve been back to low carb with IF for about 5 weeks, and I have dropped 18 lbs.  I feel better and have the energy to walk 4 miles on my treadmill most days now.  (I have a treadmill desk in my office.)

I also ordered a few lab tests at 3 weeks in, including a CAC scan, which I’ve never had before.  The score was 33.  I know that doesn’t sound super high, but I also see how quickly this can rise when no action is taken.  So, it scared me.

Other tests:

Trigs were 111
HDL only 50
GGT of 18
fasting insulin of 9.3

My goal is to stabilize or possibly reduce the CAC score, as well as improve the other markers.  At one point on low carb, I had HDL at 69, trigs at 50, so I know it’s doable.

I have started on the supplements, and have a few more coming tomorrow.  I’m also reading Undoctored, and very much enjoying it.

One other goal - a big one - is my blood pressure.  I’m not on meds for it, as it’s not super high, but it is too high, usually with systolic in the low to mid 130s and diastolic in the mid 80s to low 90s. Thing is, even with all the other benefits I saw on a clean eating, low carb plan, I never saw the normalization of blood pressure.  And, it hasn’t dropped yet this time, either. So, my hope is that the supplements will help with that.

I will continue reading and learning.  There is so much to know.
