A urologist confirmed that I have a calcium stone in my left kidney because 90% of calcium stones show up on a traditional x-ray of the kidneys,ureters and bladder and uric acid stones don't. I have had severe renal colic so I am  taking Renavive herbal tablets to dissolve the kidney stone so I can pass it.Renavive worked for some people but not for others.I drank lots of lemon juice to try to dissolve the stone.Another supposed remedy is drinking 2 liters of Coca Cola but there is too much sugar in Coke and I don't drink Diet Coke.

I have been taking sodium bicarbonate capsules to alkalize my urine. I tried magnesium citrate.I can't take potassium citrate because I'm not allowed to take potassium supplements with my Olmetec blood pressure tablets. Urologists aren't interested in what causes kidney stones to form so it looks like I may have to see a nephrologist.

Calcium stones form when there is too much calcium in the urine.Calcium is usually removed from the blood as it is filtered through the kidneys and expelled during urination.When fluid or chemical levels in the body are imbalanced,calcium may not dissolve.It binds with oxalate or phosphate,or both.The body produces most of the oxalate in the urine as a by-product,while a portion is derived from one's diet.Oxalate is found in high levels in some of the foods I consume,e.g. nuts,dark chocolate,cocoa,beet greens,tea,strawberries and blackberries.

It looks like I will have to cut back on the quantity of almonds(calcium and oxalate) I eat. The green tea extract in my Pycnogenol tablets is a concern because it is rich in oxalic acid.However,contrary to expectations,recent studies suggest that green tea inhibits urinary stone formation.

I don't have the symptoms of hypercalcemia ,i.e. fatigue,headache,weakness,vomiting,nausea or diarrhea.Maybe I ate too much cheese or yogurt or didn't drink enough water.I take vitamin D3,K1 and K2. In a previous thread, Dr.Davis mentioned that Vitamin D3 is an unlikely cause of kidney stones.I read somewhere that an abnormally high intake of milk,alkalis or Vitamin D may result in the formation of calcium phosphate stones.
On forums ,some people reported that their kidney stones formed after they began taking vitamin D3. I wasn't taking vitamin K2 when I started taking vitamin D3 so that may have been the cause of my calcium stones in both kidneys.I was eating carrots and pumpkin to get beta carotene.

made mine go away with B-6, no cola's (phosphoric acid), magneisum malate, and no almonds (oxalate)

Best thing to prevent further stones is just plain old water.
Should drink at least half you body weight in ounces of water daily.
I read a book called "the water cure".  There are some references to it on You Tube.

tips:  at minimum a half gallon of liquid per day

you can have your almonds if u up your B-6 and mag malate - - done it and it works

It must be bunk as many people live to old age in cities with hard water.Also, today I looked on the label on some calcium supplements in a shop and they contained 1500mg calcium carbonate per tablet.

If we are on high levels of D, calcium needs to be montiored, not eliminated. The TYP library references point this out too.

Oh, forgot to mention.... Been on a 1/4 tsp of citric acid daily too.  Maybe that has helped to keep the stones away.

to Searcher7:  turns out that the real bad actor here is the Prothrombin Fragment that is basically binding this mess together.  Get your K up and this issue is suppose to go away

My calcium levels are normal. I drank apple cider vinegar every day but it didn't dissolve my kidney stones.
I took vitamin K2 for a long time but I still have a calcium stone in each kidney.

I eat a couple of leaves of swiss chard every day.   Its high in K1 and oxalates.   Am I putting myself at increase risk of kidney stones?

Glad to hear that.  I take Mg Glycinate (800 mg) and B6 (50 mg) daily.    Swiss chard seems to thrive year round in my garden in central Texas, even in the record breaking heat this summer.

The magnesium water recipe in the TYP Library can be useful to inhibit formation of calcium oxalate stones. It may even encourage slow dissolution of stones, if that is your interest.
