Posted: 1/19/2023 8:40:45 AM Edited: 1/21/2023 7:10:43 AM (4)   Hello dears, because I noticed that tocopherol is listed in the ingredients I contacted the Nordic Naturals customer support and asked how much tocopherol is contained in one of the gel caps. They responded that the amount of tocopherol is less then 1% and because it’s negligible they didn’t break it down further. I don’t share this assessment and here’s why: I checked another product where the producer listed the amount of tocopherol with 3.4 mg / caps. These capsules weight 1425 mg, so the percentage of tocopherol is 0.2%. Nevertheless when taking 10 of these caps per day to achieve the optimal omega-3 intake (3000 mg / day), I’ll also overshoot on the RDA for vitamin E more then twofold and probably much more because of a healthy diet. According to studies the tocopherol increases inflammatory responses and might be detrimental to cardio vascular health. See https://youtu.be/R62rD3SA1zg?t=3150 (starting at 52:30, Berry Tan). It seems that pretty much every omega-3 product contains tocopherol in one form or another. According to Tan tocotrienol inhibits the inflammatory response of tocopherol. But Tan also has a company that sells tocotrienol products. Do you think my concern is justified? Tags:
