As many of you know, we are developing a site-wide search tool.   It does not appear on the main navigation yet as it is under development though still useable.  It can be found here (we advise bookmarking it using the "My Links" and "Add" buttons found near the top right of any page).

Site Search (use the "Help" button found on the page for additional info on using this feature).

Our first tweak (of which there are certain to be many) is to significantly boost the importance of finding a search term in various portions of a Forum post.  Here are the ranking system factors from most important to least.

Tags: Adding a relevant tag to a post will significantly improve the ranking of the post in the returned items if the tag matches a search term.

Topic Title: If a search term matches a term in a topic title it will moderately improve the ranking of topics and replies associated with the topic.

Topic/Reply Message (i.e. Body): The least important factor in ranking a post is the number of times the search term appears in the body of a post.

Let us know how this first tweak affects your ability to find posts relevant to your search terms.
