Hello everyone.

I’m a 5’ 9” 66-year-old male who in late 2013 had LDL around 133 and weighed 245lbs.

In late 2013 I read “The Primal Blueprint" by Mark Sisson. I applied it from Jan - May of 2014 and lost 35 lbs. I was proud of myself. Over the next seven 6 years, I wasn’t really "strict" about it, although I did lose another 20 lbs. However, my blood cholesterol stayed high through Dec of 2019. My general practitioner kept recommending a statin, and I refused.

Then, I decided I needed to be stricter. So I renewed my commitment to the low carb approach starting Jan 2020, and started a jogging program. Though bread was off the menu, other grains and the occasional desert were still on.

By June, I was down to 180lbs, I could jog 3 miles 3 X weekly in addition to 3 visits to the gym. My LDL number changed to 82! Triglycerides were 44. Asymptomatic for heart disease. I thought I was in the clear.

Then in early Oct 12, 2020, a friend encouraged me to watch “The Widomaker." I had to argue with my General Practitioner to get a Cardiac Calcium scan. We both were shocked to learn my Cardiac Calcium score was 1257.

I immediately began a crash course to research heart disease. I  read Jeffrey Dach’s "The Heart Book", William Davis’s "Undoctored", and Ivor Cummin’s and Jeffry Gerber’s "Eat Rich, Live Strong." It turns out all four books reinforce similar ideas, which is reassuring. Now I’m a true believer, working to integrate and apply what I’ve learned from each book, and to implement as rigorously as possible.

I’m here to learn the details I need to stabilize (and hopefully reduce) my CAC score. You guys have already been a great help with all these posts. Thank you.

I have a question:

A cardiologist I spoke with explained to me that calcium often covers up the soft “hot plaque” within the artery wall.

I tried to explain what I understood about the possibility of proper diet and supplements to reverse the accumulation of calcium by leaching it away. This sounded dangerous to her. She thought it might make it more likely for the blood to come in contact with the “hot plaque”, thus causing a blood clot and therefore result in a heart attack.

I’m just learning about this stuff, do I didn’t have an answer. After a week of studying this stuff,  my best guess at the answer is this:

Premise: The soft plaque is being caused by the body’s attempt to repair inflammation (that is the theory, as I understand it).

Therefore, if I can reduce the base amount of inflammation such as from insulin reactions, bad gut biome, or other sources (through Dr. Davis’s program), that reduction in inflammation might eliminate or reduce the soft plaque under the calcium? …

Am I understanding this correctly?
