Hello everyone,
I just checked out Dr Davis’ book "What Does My Heart Scan Show?"
and nearly had a heart attack reading the following:

"Jim’s (40 years old) heart scan score was 34 (75th percentile, 3 percent per year risk for
heart attack, 30 percent over 10 years
).."

The book was written in 2005. Are these numbers still accurate based on today’s science?

I happen to have a score of 12 at age 42, which according to the MESA calculator
https://www.mesa-nhlbi.org/MESACHDRisk/MesaRiskScore/RiskScore.aspx
So I fill out the specs (BP, cholesterol, etc) and get 3.7% for 10 years.
"The estimated 10-year risk of a CHD event for a person with this risk factor profile including coronary calcium is 3.7%"

In the book there is a section "The Percentile Rank—the Best Heart Attack Predictor of All"
on page 38 this table appears, again 3-4% per year for the 75th percentile.

The MESA tool shows https://www.mesa-nhlbi.org/Calcium/input.aspx that for my age and cac score, a 45 year old (3 years older, lowest age that can be entered) with a CAC of 12, is in the 82th percentile.

So which risk estimate is correct? 3-4% per year or per 10 years?
Naturally this 10-fold difference makes me nervous....
