Hopefully this is the place to discuss these questions. If not, or if this has already been covered elsewhere, please let me know.

I have been supplementing with Vit D3 for approx 1.5 years (4000-6000 IU daily) in order to met program goals of around 70 ng/mL, and I have been there for over a year now. I have been diagnosed with lowish bone mineral density (BMD) for perhaps 6 years now with my DEXA scans showing improvement sometimes and worsening sometimes. My last DEXA scan showed significant worsening. Recently I read the subject JAMA paper.

 https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2748796

This Clinical Trial seems to conclude there is a relationship between high doses of Vit D3 and significant lowering of BMD.

In a previous topic, there is a video by Dr. Robert Cywes who talks to Vit D supplementation and loss of BMD. His point is that loss of bone density is due to high carb, low fat diet and insulin resistance. I have been on a high fat, low carb diet now for two years. My recent insulin level is 2.1 uIU/mL.

My questions:

1. What is The Undoctored program’s consensus on Vit D3 level’s and BMD levels?
2. What is the Program’s Target Vit D3 level of 60-70 based on?
3. If the above referenced trial does indeed conclude higher levels of Vit D supplementation does cause a decrease in BMD, then I am interested in opinions on exactly what to do. Meaning, lower my supplementation, stop supplementing, but get more sun exposure, then get another DEXA scan in 6 months, etc, etc, etc.

From the study: "There was no effect on fall rates in this study and no evidence of a relationship between changes in volumetric BMD and fracture risk, which may reflect the healthy status of the population that was studied."

Quoted From Boo:
Nobody knows the truth, ...

Damn, I need that on my wall.  Not the FB wall, but actual wall where I’ll see it every day.

the latest on bone is that scans don’t matter, its the bone’s collagen matrix that matters and it cannot be measured
