I don’t know what is going on! I attributed unexpected weight gain to the covid effect of being housebound, stress, not eating properly but whatever it is, I swear, it just does not seem normal! I weigh more than I ever have (257) and I am miserable. I am 6’ 2".  I used to panic if I hit 233, lol. I am uncomfortable because my clothes don’t fit mainly. I thought it might be salt and I cut out salt but it really didn’t help. Now, wondering if it’s thyroid or something. Age 66. If I go to doc, what should I have checked? This is mostly a belly problem.

Can anyone tell me what is the most recent thinking on exercise and weight loss? Seems that over the past decade or so, reputable experts have said cardio really doesn’t do anything? Strength training is the best?

Anyone know of a strengthening exercise routine that is good? I am willing to buy kettlebells, pullup bar, whatever. Because it’s not just weight loss I need, I need to strengthen my core. I’m pretty active but I poop out quick when doing strenuous stuff like splitting firewood.

I do admit I have not been doing right and have succumbed to comfort food too often during these stressful times but, heck, I can’t see gaining so much weight so quickly.
