Results of a Labcorp metabolic panel today revealed an elevated (278 u/l) total serum CK. I have been following TYP for 11 months (after a calcium score of over 1800). Currently taking 10mg Crestor, 5mg Altace, 162mg baby aspirin, 2.5mg bisoprolol. I've been supplementing, since Aug, with 6000 units D3 and 6000 mg EPA/DHA. In mid-November I added 1000mg of Slo-Niacin (titrated from 500mg). I should add that, since my last bloodwork (predating the addition of Slo-Niacin), by AST has gone from 38 to 44. I do feel wonderful and have the stamina of a 25 year old (I'm 54). 5'10 and 155lbs. Vigorous exercise 7 days/wk. My profile is available for your persusal.
Re the CK: my cardiologist wants to wait 3 months and retest (although I'm currently awaiting the results of a 2nd Berkeley and will see him in another month for a 1yr nuclear stress test). I'm thinking that it's time for Co-Q10. I was reluctant to add that a year ago because I wanted to see how I tolerated the prescribed regimen.
What is the experience of the TYP community with elevated CK? What can I do about it? I have no muscle pain, aches, etc.
