Newer report revealing microbial and heavy metal contamination, adulteration with synthetic and banned drugs, herbal substitutes and inaccurate label claims among supplements. It appears my cynicism towards many things is actually justified. That consumer labs membership is looking more and more attractive and required. I know Bob is probably woke to at least some of these issues https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/1060028019900504?url_ver=Z39.88-2003&rfr_id=ori%3Arid%3Acrossref.org&rfr_dat=cr_pub%3Dpubmed This also makes you wonder in what way(s) the organizations like these 3 listed in the review are reputable, and not corrupt like the other organizations outlined. Maybe the adulteration of supplements as well can explain the adverse reactions some people experience with chronic conditions for something like GI issues (effects that persist with the duration of many days of supplementation and are not due to die off) and lead them to falsely believe that the active ingredient isn’t right for them and prevent them from getting proper treatment by just trying a different supplement with the same active ingredient. Lastly, this reminds me of the probiotic supplement debacle where it had been revealed on numerous occasions that label claims were wildly inaccurate, with some probiotics not even containing ANY of the actual strain in their product that was listed on the bottle!
