The last test taken on Jan13 showed my fT3 slightly below the Quest reference range and fT4 nearly mid-RR. About a week ago I started daily supplementing with one 65mg capsule of Nutri-meds NDT. My normally controlled systolic BP increased from 120s to 140s, with normal pulse of 50s. This morning I instead took one 150mg capsule of Thyro-Gold NDT.  My systolic BP has increased to over 200. Pulse has increased to 60s. I have doubled my usual BP medication in hopes of reducing my BP. Perhaps an interaction between the two NDTs? Or perhaps this batch of TG NDT is excessively potent. Or perhaps it is an unusual side-effect. Regardless, no more non-prescription thyroid medication for me. BP taken just now has lowered to 179/95 with 57 pulse.

Is it possible that it is related only to T4? Would taking only liothyronine be safe?

Last BP taken 1/2 hr. ago was 145/87/60.

Darn scary having a resting BP over 200. I had slight tremors and was very lightheaded.

I was on 65mg for a week then took 150mg, not 300. But I think you are generally correct. I should have started even less than 65mg and slowly titrated upwards. Once my BP returns to normal, I’ll try that.

You can also have a bad reaction if your adrenals are low.
