Why so many people are supplementing vitamin C?

It is not exactly vitamin C...but ascorbic acid only. Why don’t you eat kiwi or red peppers or blueberries? I’m reading so much about vitamin C those days. Some people think it’s absolutely necessary to supplement it, other people not so much.

I have decided to buy some, but I’m still not convinced that I should take it. Why I want to put antioxidants in my body? I need my oxygen. Try not to breathe for a while then you see that you needed too...

Please convince me either way.

I’m just playing with it because it’s cheap and has no downside at the dose I use (1g, 2xdaily, ER).  So far, no real blood chemistry change.  Waiting until my next Lpa test.

I probably average between 300 and 500 mg per day. I used to eat between 1-2gr.... but like you said because of the sugar content I had to cut dramatically my fruits and veggies. Fruits more than veggies.

Some are cautious enough to swirl the teeth with plain water afterwards because of this concern. I didn’t always, now for 11 years with no bad signs from my teeth. 4 times daily for in average 24g per day.

I eat broccoli and cauliflower often. I figure I get enough Vitamin C in the veggies.  Love riced cauliflower .. I make Chinese fried rice, Mexican rice, rice for Indian curry etc. with it.
