Let me breakdown the title as a way of explanation.
Alexandria: A reference to the ancient library of the same name. This project looks to catalog site information and put it under one roof.
Experiment: Let’s test a concept.
Collaborative: Can we development a process where we can do the above collaboratively ...
Crowd Wisdom: … by harnessing the power of the "Undoctored Crowd" using ...
Human Curation: … instead of developing a computer algorithm to find information using humans (our Members) to catalog, categorize, and classify key (but not all) information on the Undoctored site (and perhaps other useful off-site info) in a manner that makes it easy for Members to find info of interest. The idea being that humans can sometimes do a better job than computers.
Real-Time: And, can we actually build it (the repository and search tool) in real-time making modifications on the fly based on suggestions and observations by Members as we build.
Naturally, there will be many questions given I am springing this on everyone rather abruptly. However, the following is a brief specification we can all start "throwing stones" at. Remember, let’s keep it simple at first and embellish it as we "collaborate in real-time."
Health Class (a high-level way to classify info for easy reference)
Blood Sugar Health (Diabetes)
Bone & Joint Health
Mind Health (Alzheimer’s)
Others (but let’s keep it as broad and simple as possible)
Information Class (a second way to classify info)
Others (again, let’s keep it broad and simple at least to start)
Information Source (i.e. where did it come from)
External (i.e. not from Undoctored)
Item Title (i.e. Forum Topic Title, Video Title, Article Title, etc.)
Information Link (just a good old URL link to the info)
Keywords (a string of words associated with each item entered for additional filtering/search purposes)
Member ID (automatically entered with each item)
Like (Members vote up items to improve display ranking)
Filters (essentially search parameters)
OK, let the collaboration begin!
Title & Keywords (combined)
P.S. See what happens when my mind wonders over too many glasses of wine on a Saturday night!!!
