Posted: 9/1/2019 10:07:29 AM Edited: 9/1/2019 10:22:08 AM (1)   I take Amlodipine (5mg) daily and would like to stop.  While searching this site for amlodipine, I saw a mention of osteopenia being a possible side effect of CCBs.  My recent DEXA scan revealed osteopenia for the first time.  Could this drug have caused bone loss?  I’ve been on it - this time - for close to a year.  The DEXA was maybe 3 months ago.  But I also took this drug years ago.  If this is from taking a CCB, how long would it take to do any damage? Also, any recommendations for discontinuing the drug?  Suddenly?  Tapering?  Half dose or every other day? I don’t take calcium and haven’t for years, probably a decade or more. Edit: I will be out of boron this week.  Is it important that I get more? Tags:
