Hi Dr. Davis, I have been reading lately about the importance of getting 4700 mg of potassium daily. I have been using Cronometer (which I have no reason to think is inaccurate) to log my daily nutrient intake. Even with eating 12 to 15 cups of above ground vegetables, plus avocado each day – I am coming nowhere near the 4700 mg RDA for potassium. I simply cannot eat anymore vegetable than this! Most days I am only getting about half of the RDA… If that. I have noticed in your book that you do not discuss potassium. I would love to hear your opinions on this mineral. It appears to be very difficult to get the RDA, and supplements are generally only 99 mg.

Have you had your levels checked. I did supplement potassium for a short time but my levels got too high.

I was having leg cramps before I get out of bed in the morning when I stretched.  I started taking 300 mg of potassium and they went away. Am I in danger of becoming toxic??  I take magnesium, a minimum of 450 mg elemental.

Cotonpal: Thanks for this infomation. Because of your post, I am more at ease taking the potassium.  I too track my food on Cronometer most of the time. It’s a great app.

That level of potassium intake is safe, Lilly, in anyone with normal kidney function.

As you see, it is less than 10% of a daily intake, so a modest quantity.
