Posted: 8/31/2015 12:12:18 AM Edited: 4/11/2025 7:53:41 AM (1)   I have seen recommendations to supplement with vitamin E.  Quite awhile ago, perhaps around year 2000, there was a study the showed that people who supplemented with high doses of E didn’t live as long as non supplementers.  So I haven’t done it. There are articles at Life Extension that dispute the reliability of studies questioning the benefit of E supplementation.  Apparently most studies are done with Alpha tocopherol and maybe even a non-naturally occurring isomer of it.  I understand that there are about 8 varieties of vitamin E - alpha, beta, gamma, and delta tocopherols and tocotrienols.  There may be a preferred combination of them that would be most healthful.  My purpose in supplementing would be to add to the K, A (a carrot a day), D, ubiquinol that I take to coat my LDL particles and to reduce inflamation.  Just wondering what brand or combination of Vitamin E forms is the best.  Or would Vitamin E supplemenation not be necessary if one has adequate vegetables and oils in the diet.
