A friend of mine who enjoyed an 11% regression in her CAC score last year just got her new results - 23% growth (same machine)! After looking at the images, her doctor said this year's growth reflects calcium forming around implants from a boob job she had several years ago and the implant calcium is getting in the way of accurately scoring the coronary calcium, which screwed up the coronary calcium score.

Sounds to me a bit like stent phenomena where they have to try and score around the stent, i.e, remove the stented artery from the equation and establish a new baseline.

She's not necessarily buying the doctor's rendition and I told her I'd solicit some thoughts, opinions, experiences from my peeps.

And another thread I need to resurrect. I had a breast implant after mastectomy 25 years ago and am now wondering if my high CAC score could have been caused by this implant (which was removed a few years ago).
More to research!
