HH,

It seems to me that one of the current constraints upon the expansion of the TYP audience and discussion within the site, is that there is no Applications Programming Interface (API) that allows members or others to interface with the site.

For instance, I cannot currently:
  • Develop an "app", to be approved by your good self - For instance, to automatically alert all members, who opt in, when CAC88 is repeating "itself’ regarding a study and is engaged in "serial threading", or has "post hoc" edited a thread without letting us all know
  • Strip out aggregate data regarding member and site visitor behaviour - For instance, "heat diagrams" regarding trending terms on TYP, or even basic "Google Analytics’ type data regarding site page traffic
  • Interface this site with other sites,  to display data subsets - For instance, anonymised discussions regarding gut functioning, which then might drive a TYP sales funnel
  • Code a change to TYP and put it to you for approval and distribution
You will see above a common theme of adding to your good self as the developer, via mobilization of a coding community who use the API. Should we try and mobilise the TYP retired engineer community to fulfill their wishes? Indeed pieces of code could be badged e.g the "Harry35 data analytics suite".

As a serious "full stack" web developer, I am sure you understand where I am coming from.

My guess is that the definition and availability of such an API may well be an important aspect of a strategy to expand TYP, at current prices.

So, how does this all relate to the new web site?

Regards,

NSAHPT
