Health Test/Treatment Manager/Dashboard Enhancements

Basenote last revised: 2017-02-03

In another thread, HeartHawk opened the door for enhancements to the site's:
Health Test Manager,
Dashboard, and
Health Treatment Manager features
(HT/TM/DB). I'm posting this basenote so that we can discuss this without derailing an unrelated thread.

My initial thoughts on specific tests are in the next 2 responses. But details are secondary to context.

  • Whatever might be done needs to be compatible with the strategic direction for the site (and I have no immediate insight on that). I can conjecture that having an HT/TM/DB-like feature is important for the Undoctored initiative.

  • Perhaps the biggest issue here is ailment scope. The current site is fairly narrowly focused on metabolic and cardiac issues, with some allowance for bone, digestive, endocrine (thyroid) and auto-immune conditions. Will scope be expanded to cover topics like cancer, children's issues, dental, eye/vision, gender, methylation, neurological, toxin recovery, urological, etc?

  • Whatever might be done needs to be consistent with the purposes of the HT/TM/DB. The present toolset is both personal, and optionally public. It provides a repository for data points. It implicitly endorses some labs by including them, which is important, as many are not routine. It provides history and trend analysis. If public, it can prevent needless Q&A in forum discussions.

  • In the Undoctored age, this data is no less important than today, and the client may need even more support in choosing, sourcing and interpreting results. This means, for example, clearly identifying tests by name, perhaps order codes, and maybe even links to mail-order providers, like ZRT.

  • Units of Measure
are presently U.S. customary, which is fine for providing a common comparative context, but it would be nice to at least provide a units converter, if not allow entry in alternative/international units.

  • Ranking (Important, Marginal, Useless, Dangerous)
Some words might be needed on certain tests, due to being strongly recommended (e.g. HbA1c), routine but not terribly meaningful (e.g. BMI, TC), fictional (LDL-C), or presenting needless hazards (e.g. OGTT).

  • Promotion
I only just noticed today that the site has a tracker for Treatments. It doesn't seem to be exposed in any easy to use way for other members to quickly discover all supplements and meds in use. For extra credit, where a user has their HT/TM/DB status set to public, to add, under the:
     Send Private Message
it might be nice to add a button
     Show User's Dashboard

  • Diet
The Treatment manager captures almost nothing on diet.

  • Dr. Davis is presumed to be the final approver on features, functions and test specifics.

  • Presumably, tracking tool scope remains one data set per login name - no family capability. That's fine, but needs to be a deliberate choice. It might be addressed via family discount.

I've attempted to tackle some of this in my Wheat Belly / Cureality Suggested Labs page.
