Dr.John Day said that getting down to a healthy weight, and staying there, is the single best thing people can do to beat atrial fibrillation. Medications and procedures weren't needed. He wrote about Liz here. http://drjohnday.com/healthy-weight/
I'm sure that won't work for everyone with atrial fibrillation.I had my first episode of atrial fibrillation when I was slim and 29 years old.

Dr.Day's research found lower weight at Atrial Fibrillation ablation lowers arrhythmia recurrence risk. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/27207256

Dr.Davis wrote,"I am now convinced that wheat and related grains (rye, barley, corn, oats) have a provocative effect on atrial fibrillation and that their elimination helps bring a stop to the rhythm.
I have now observed this too many times to dismiss to chance."

Dr.Day said,"Did you know that being overweight increases your risk of A-fib by 50%? Carrying extra weight puts a large strain on the heart.  Studies show that for overweight people, you can decrease your episodes of A-fib by nearly three-fold with losing just 32 pounds .  If you are overweight, now is the time to change your lifestyle and get the weight off!"

It's ironic that doctors prescribe beta blockers to prevent  atrial fibrillation in overweight people when Dr.Davis says beta blockers make it very hard to lose weight.

I looked for the book on Amazon but could not find it.  I'm recently diagnosed with AFib and chose not to go on meds.  The events are lessening.  I'm not overweight but very active.  Thanks for any help.
