Welcome Guest, Give the Gift of Health to Your Loved Ones
Trying to use youtube videos to understand my abnormal exercise EKG. At rest the pattern is just fine with
a normal "p" wave followed by a normal "qrs" and normal "t" wave. The interval measurements appear normal. Then after
5 minutes into exercise, the "p" wave is quite distorted possibly becomes 2 "p" waves and then that whole atrial section becomes
like scribbles with no obvious pattern and no repetition. The "qrs" appears still in tact. During recovery things become fairly
normal after 3 minutes with a couple of weird segments thrown in. The best I can discern is that this indicates Atrial fibrillation. This
is possibly associated with heart failure as best I can understand it. The HF stood out to me as I also have high NT-ProBNP, also an
indicator of future heart failure. My cardiologist appears to be of the mind that one shouldn't bother their little heads with things they
can't do anything about, so I guess that's why he didn't go over this with me. So I'm wondering:
1. does my analysis seem reasonable?
2. Is afib an indicator of Heart failure? If I have no symptoms, is it of concern?
3. Is there anything one can do about afib?
Angina was also mentioned with afib (my mother had angina at about my age). I have no symptoms
and had no symptoms on the treadmill.
Any comments are welcome. Thanks, Laura
